Home Inspection

The home inspection process is very important. If you overlook this step of buying a new home you may end up regretting it for the rest of your life. Think about it; without an inspection you may end up buying a home that has problems that you were not even aware of. And in some cases these problems can be quite expensive, and detrimental to the overall quality of the home. Luckily, a home inspection is something that you will need to do in order to complete the sale. This will ensure that you do not miss anything as long as you pay attention to what the inspector tells you.

Before any home sale, an inspection must be done. Not only will it protect you as a buyer, but it will also let the seller know what problems need to be fixed, if any. You can either set up the inspection process on your own, or you can have a real estate agent do it for you. Either way, make sure that you have the chance to read the report and you understand everything that it says. There is a chance that the home inspection may turn up something that turns you off. If this is the case you have every right to walk away from the home, or try to renegotiate the selling price.

Go to the Inspection

You can decide to actually walk the house with the home inspector if you choose. Of course this is not necessary, but it may be a good idea if you are expecting problems. The inspector will be able to give you a “play by play” on what he or she sees as well as how severe the problem is. Of course this is something that will be on the final report, but being on hand can never hurt. Just make sure that if you do this that you do not get on the inspectors nerves.

Find an Inspector

Hiring a home inspector is not as difficult as it sounds. If you cannot find one on your own, your real estate agent will be able to point you in the right direction. In fact, you may want your real estate agent to refer you to an inspector. This way you know that you are getting the best, and that every stone will be turned over. Speak with your real estate agent about this in advance, and they will be able to get you set up with an appointment that works best for you.

When reading the report that your home inspector gives you make sure that everything is perfectly clear. Passing up on detail may result in you missing out on something that can be quite expensive to repair. Generally speaking these reports are easy to read, but in some cases you may be a bit confused with the lingo that is used. If you have any questions there is nothing wrong with asking. It is better to be safe than sorry.
